About PDF Split
PDF Split lets you divide a PDF into separate pages or page ranges. Useful for extracting specific sections from large reports, contracts, or scanned documents.
How to Split a PDF
- 1Upload the PDF file you want to split.
- 2Choose to split every page, or enter custom page ranges such as 1-3, 5, 7-9.
- 3Click Split to process the file.
- 4Download individual pages or a ZIP archive of all split files.
Popular Use Cases
Extract a single page
Pull one page — a signed form, a certificate, or an invoice — out of a large PDF to send on its own.
Split a large report into sections
Break a long report or book into chapters so each part can be shared or reviewed separately.
Separate scanned documents
A batch scan often produces one big PDF; split it back into individual documents such as contracts or receipts.
Remove pages you don't need
Keep only the page ranges you want and drop blank or irrelevant pages before sharing.

Formats & Features
| Input | Any PDF file, single or multi-page. |
|---|---|
| Split modes | Every page individually, or custom page ranges such as 1-3, 5, 7-9. |
| Output | Separate PDF files; bundled as a ZIP when there are several. |
| Quality | Lossless — pages are copied without re-rendering, keeping original text and layout. |
| Original file | Never modified; new files are created from the pages you choose. |
| Processing | 100% in your browser with pdf-lib. No upload. |
How It Works
FileZoom uses pdf-lib, an open-source PDF engine running as JavaScript in your browser, to copy the pages you select into new PDF documents. The original file is read into your device's memory and never modified or uploaded — the split files are generated locally and saved straight to your downloads.
Tips & Best Practices
- To pull out one page, enter just its number (for example, 7) in the range field.
- Combine ranges with commas — 1-3, 5, 8-10 — to extract several sections in one go.
- Splitting into many pages? Download the ZIP to get them all at once instead of one by one.
- Need to recombine pages later? Use PDF Merge to join the split files back in any order.
FAQ
Does splitting damage the PDF?
No. The original file is not modified. New separate PDF files are created from the pages you specify.
Can I extract just one page from a large PDF?
Yes. Enter just that page number in the range input to extract a single page as its own PDF.
Are the files uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing is done locally in your browser. No data is sent to any server.
What happens to the formatting after splitting?
Each split page retains its original content, fonts, and layout exactly as they appeared in the source PDF.
How do I extract a specific page range?
Enter ranges like 1-3, 5, 7-9 in the range field. Each listed range or page becomes its own PDF.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied without re-rendering, so text, images, and layout stay identical to the source.
Can I download all split pages at once?
Yes. When you split into multiple files, FileZoom bundles them into a single ZIP archive you can download in one click.
Does PDF Split work on mobile?
Yes. It runs in mobile browsers such as Safari and Chrome, so you can split PDFs on your phone or tablet.
